Fort De Kock in Bukittinggi
Fort De Kock is a relic of the Dutch fort which is located in the city of Bukittinggi, West Sumatra, Indonesia. The fort was built during Padri War in 1825 by Capt. Bauer on the Mount Jirek and originally named Sterrenschans. Later, its name was changed to Fort de Kock. Fort Fort de Kock a white washed building with tall green about 20 m. The fort is also equipped with a small cannon at the four corners. The area around the castle has been renovated by the local government into a park with lots of shady trees and playground for children. The fortress is located across the street from Taman Margasatwa dan Budaya Kinantan or more popularly known by the people of West Sumatra Bukittinggi Zoo. The zoo connected by a bridge call Limpapeh bridge beneath which is a highway in the town of Bukit Tinggi. This area is in the town center including Bukittinggi and not so far from the Clock Tower Bukittingi. From the Clock Tower Bukittinggi we can walk a few minutes past bukittinggi Pasar Atas (name of the Market) that sells a variety of souvenirs or simply windows shopping and we've been in front of the Gate ofBukittinggi Zoo. From the Zoo site that we can go to Fort Fort De Kock limpapeh past the bridge.
